Black Belt Certification

Black Belts operate under Master Black Belts to apply Six Sigma methodology to specific projects. They devote 100% of their time to Six Sigma. They primarily focus on Six Sigma project execution, whereas Champions and Master Black Belts focus on identifying projects/functions for Six Sigma.

Training

When training as a black belt you will need to know the DMAIC model based on the Aveta Business Institute. This is a company that has specialized in training and certifying Six Sigma black belts in risk management. When learning this model you will be taught the Definition, Measurement, Analysis, Improvement, and Control of a process flow when related to complex processes. This course could last anywhere between four to six weeks depending on where you go.

Requirements Of Certification

The requirements for earning your risk management certificate will vary depending on the training program that you use. The most common will include two completed projects and three years of work experience in a specified Six Sigma Body of Knowledge. A project that you take could last anywhere from four to six months. You must spend at least 75% of your time on working on it. To be certified you must also complete a final exam.

Schools And Cost

You will be able to earn your black belt certification through an online class as well as a physical class room. There are a number of colleges and universities that will offer this certification. There are also a few companies that will offer their own Six Sigma programs in order to help with the training process. This could cost as much as $8,000.
